Mr. Powers has been involved in the sport of pure bred dogs since the early 1970s as an exhibitor, handler and breeder in both Mexico and the United States.  He has bred an eclectic variety of breeds with the main emphasis on Pulik, Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Norwich Terriers and Dachshunds.  To a lesser degree he has been involved with Border Terriers, Alaskan Malamutes, Borzoi, Whippets, Miniature Pinschers and Wire Fox Terriers.  Also, he belongs to dog clubs on both sides of the U.S.-Mexican border and has been involved in putting on shows in both countries.  He is presently the Show Chairman for Los Encinos Kennel Club and Santa Barbara Kennel Club.

Commencing in 1985, Mr. Powers started judging at the championship level and has awarded championship certificates in Asia, Australia, Europe and North and South America.

My first introduction to the dog show world came in 1962 when I acquired a Golden Retriever puppy “Charlie”.I couldn’t imaginehow this would change my life.Over the years my love of Golden Retrievers, my interest in showing, handling, judging and breeding dogs, the time spent studyingthe standards and origins of different breeds, and my appreciation of seeing beautiful dogs has all filled my life with inspiration, excitement and joy.

Through my kennel which I named "Krishna", I have bred many “special” Golden Retrievers, Akitas, Pembroke Welsh Corgis and Chinese Crested. They have acquired numerous conformation championships along with multiple obedience, agility and working titles. Many have also gone on to Best in Show and Specialty wins.

In 1971 I founded the Palo Verde Golden Retriever Club of Tucson. I was President for several years and taught obedience and All Breed handling classes for the club..

I became an AKC licensed professional handler in 1974, and handled, finished and specialed dogs in every AKC group over the next 26 years. Handling took me all over the USA, to Canada, Mexico and many other countries throughout the world.

In 2000 I was accepted as an AKC judge and I am finding judging to be a marvelous culmination of the knowledge, experience and love I have for the sport. Currently I am approved to judge Best in Show, The Herding Group, more than half of the Sporting Group as well as Danes, Dobes, Akitas, and Chihuahuas, Chinese Crested, Papillion and Min Pins. I also judge Junior Showmanship and enjoy sharing my love for showing/handling dogs with the fine young people who are our future. As I have entered into different aspects of the dog world, each one has seemed better than the previous one. My excitement about judging surpasses and brings together all of my experiences. I really love it!

My life now includes lots of travel with judging assignments, being an active member/board member in several All Breed dog clubs, teaching handling classes, and breeding an occasional litter of Krishna Goldens and Chinese Crested. I have also been co-facilitating seminars around the USA, which experientially cover the basics of showing, grooming and handling, as well as discussions and power point programs on breeding better dogs,understanding structure, movement, and in-depth handling of all breeds of dogs.

I was introduced to the world of Dog Shows in 1962, with a very young Golden Retriever puppy named "Charlie".Charlie's registered name was the first time I used the Krishna name, and his name was Krishna's Golden Hunter CD.From the acquisition of this single dog grew the love of both the Golden Retriever and the Dog Show Game!

I have since bred and titled numerous conformation Champions in several breeds with the prefix "Krishna".I have bred many Champions in Golden Retrievers, Akitas, Pembroke Welsh Corgis and Chinese Crested.I personally have shown many to Best in Show and Specialty wins, gained multiple obedience titles, and also trained in the Field with my Goldens.In addition, some of my Goldens have gone on to be therapy dogs helping people in many ways.
